Great system for increasing reading speed and study skills!

For the first time I have been able to increase my reading speed after taking numerous "speedreading" courses. The phenomenal aspect of The Key to Study Skills is the authors teach their system of study skills in a clear, easy to follow manner. By actually doing the exercises and being persistent, I have been amazed at my ability to remember what I am studying. I have "gone back to school" and therefore was looking for a way to get through the voluminous reading assignments. Thankfully I found Dr. Lev and Anna's book. I would suggest this book for anyone who wishes to increase their ability to study well, remember what you study, increase your and reading speed.

By far the best book on speed reading and memory improvement. I became interested in speed reading a few months ago after taking Superlearner Udemy course. The course itself is very comprehensive and useful, but I think that this book contains more detailed examples and guidelines.

Anyone who is struggling with their school or work should read this book. You won't regret your time invested.

A nice short story...

I've read many of Diana Palmer's book and well this one was not very different. Since its more like a short story, it doesn't get that well developed.

Story is about a mom (Maggie) who moves out to Montana with her son. The nearest neighbor (Tate) is almost untouchable after he lost his family. However, Maggie is able to win his heart and build her own family with Tate.

Since the story is very short, the character's personalities don't have a chance to develop. However, you can see from the short amount of time that Maggie is very devoted towards her son and Tate is very passionate and somewhat innocent.

A cute story. If you like Diana Palmer, this one should be a quick, good read.

i have read literally all of her books and thoroughly enjoy them. she always writes about the same theme, young virgin, older man, hates them, but eventually they realize they love them so all is right. her love scenes are so tender that you can help but fall in love. i cannot wait for her next book.

I began reading books by this author several years ago and have many of them in my personal collection...one day I hope to own them all....I am never disappointed in the story lines nor content of her books....and the fact that so many of them have the same characters in them just makes it better for me....it is just like reading a family history and I do so love to do that !!!!

This book is by far the best text available on the topic. Professor Guiggiani has written a book that is based firmly in classical mechanics, and in so doing, dispels many of the concepts and terms that can be confusing and misleading in the field of vehicle dynamics.
Vehicle dynamics can be considered to be the study of rigid body kinematics and dynamics. Yet, many of the concepts (roll center) and the terminologies are inaccurate and therefore confusing. There is nothing different or special about the study of the motions of a vehicle under applied forces and moments, and it seems much of the lack of understanding comes from the fact that tires are highly non-linear force-producing devices. Fortunately, Professor Guiggiani addresses even this topic with ease and great clarity.
This is the only text I have seen which addresses the kinematics of vehicle cornering using the concept of the inflection circle, and other concepts borrowed from planar analysis. I feel very strongly that this approach will lead to a much greater understanding of the kinematics of both road and race cars then is currently applied in the respective industries.
I can't recommend this text highly enough; if you have an interest in understanding the dynamics of road and/or race vehicles, there is no better resource available. Enjoy.

The best text of vehicle dynamics on the market

The best book of vehicle dynamics I encontered so far.
The author introduces some quite innovative concepts like the vehicle invariant point, the track inveriant point, the map of achievable performance together with a rigorous analysis of the kinematics of cornering.
Also the most classical concepts are rediscussed, like the handling diagram, the single track model and the roll axis: the review is carried out however keeping a critical eye and without giving anything for granted.
The typical aspect of handling, braking and ride behavior of racing cars are also analyzed pointing out the main differences with respect to road cars.
A state-of-the-art model of wheel with tire is presented in the last chapter, together with new and innovative concepts like "the tire action surface".

Hands down the best Vehicle Dynamics book I have ever read. I am currently writing my Master's Thesis on a Fully Autonomous Vehicle Cruise Control System and this book has given me a greater understanding of Vehicle Dynamics, all I know in that area I owe it to the author. My focus is Control Systems Engineering and had never taken a class on Vehicle Dynamics. If you have previously studied Kinematics and Dynamics, then this book should be extremely easy to follow and understand. I have read many books on Vehicle Dynamics, and this book excels in its area. After reading the book I had some curiosity about whom the author was, because of the excellent material quality; I wasn't surprised by the amazing experience and credentials of Dr. Guiggiani.

As it joins the ranks of the books in this genre, Black Edelweiss makes a unique and very important contribution. It is a true, personal account of the author’s war years, first at school and then with the Waffen-SS, which he joined early in 1943 at the age of seventeen. For a year and a half, the author fought as a machine gunner in SS-Mountain Infantry Regiment 11 "Reinhard Heydrich," mainly in the arctic and sub-arctic reaches of Soviet Karelia and Finland, and later at the Western frontier of the Third Reich. The characters in the story are real, and the conversations and actions are recounted to the best of his ability from the short distance at which he wrote the manuscript in 1945–46.

Apart from the piercing insights into the question of why the German soldier fought as he did, what makes this book truly unique is the author’s anguished, yet resolute examination of the dialectic between the honorable and valorous comportment of his comrades and the fundamentally reprehensible conduct of about 35,000 men behind the front lines who nevertheless wore the same uniform.

During his captivity, the author was assigned for a time as a clerk to a US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps officer, and in the performance of his administrative duties, the author had access to the mounting reams of documentation of the Holocaust. His growing recognition of the involvement of Waffen-SS personnel in the monstrous crimes of that process caused him to dig deeply into his soul, to examine his most intimate and private motivations and thoughts, and to reevaluate the most basic assumptions of his life to that point. The author captured this process and the result in the notes which became this book.

Honestly, forthrightly, and courageously told, Black Edelweiss is a precious gift to historians and other students of World War II. It not only provides a glimpse into the attributes that made the German armed forces a formidable and tenacious foe, but squarely confronts the most painful issue facing German World War II veterans in general, and Waffen-SS veterans in particular.

About the Author
The author is a loyal member of his division’s veterans’ group, and his bona fides are impeccable. Before The Aberjona Press published this book, to the extent possible, his accounts of action, especially against the US Army, were vetted against primary sources in the National Archives, by examination of unit histories, and by interviews with American veterans who fought against the author’s unit. Extensive research has been carried out by LTC Hugh Foster, US Army (Ret.) with hundreds of American survivors of the author’s regiment’s savage battle against them at Reipertswiller, Alsace, in January 1945. The author’s recollections are completely supported by the available evidence. He has produced that rarest of memoirs, one that is untainted by gross hindsight or recast to fit later interpretations.

A fascinating first-person account of a Waffen SS soldier who fought in Lapland. It makes you wonder how any of the Waffen SS soldiers survived the war. The descriptions of the feelings and beliefs of the on-the-ground soldiers is especially interesting. Also, the information on the war-time relationship between Finland and Germany is very interesting.

Highly Recommended - Very Personal & Different Perspective

All of the other reviews are spot on. I have read several books on World War II and this one is at the top of my list. I found it fascinating the details the author encounters vs. the overall big picture of battles and outcomes of large campaigns. I also gained more respect for the planning and professionalism that went into the smaller operations that author witnessed and took part in.
As others have mentioned it makes you realize that not all SS were fanaticals and racists. And in this author's case it was matter of joining to do something about the war and attempt to help his country.
I particularly enjoyed the author's experiences before the war, how he described his middle to upper middle class life and how nice it was. I also found the relationships, expierences, and his vivid memories he recalls about other soldiers (including his father) very interesting. I can easily imagine what it must have been like.
Its a quick read, possibly too fast. I really wish it was longer and that it was not edited down to its size (as mentioned in preface). This is definitely a highly recommended book.

Short but interesting...

This book will probably be a disappointment if you are looking for shoot-em-up fear-validating accounts of German warfare. It is a book that is more introspective than any other war book I have read. Those that are in to the deeper aspects of war will find this a very interesting read. Voss does a good job of documenting his perspective and gives a great account of the political mindset of the Germans before, during and after the war. From that perspective it is different from most others. Voss has a refreshing abundance of character and honesty and helps the reader see why the German fought so hard even after the end was no longer in doubt. Like I said, if you are looking for the boom-boom of tanks, this will leave you a little unsatisfied. But if you want to look inside the mind of a impressionable young man in caught in the complex dichotomies of Nazi Germany, then this book is a good get.

From Artisan to Worker examines the largely overlooked debate over the potential reestablishment of guilds that occurred from 1776 to 1821. The abolition of guilds in 1791 overturned an organization of labor that had been in place for centuries. The disorder that ensued - from concerns about the safety of the food supply to a general decline in the quality of goods - raised strong doubts about their abolition and sparked a debate both inside and outside of government that went on for decades. The issue of the reestablishment of guilds, however, subsequently became intertwined with the growing mechanization of production. Under the Napoleonic regime, the government considered several projects to restore guilds in a large-scale fashion, but the counterargument that guilds could impede mechanization prevailed. After Bonaparte's fall, the restored Bourbon dynasty was expected to reorganize guilds, but its sponsorship of an industrial exhibition in 1819 signaled its endorsement of mechanization, and after 1821 there were no further efforts to restore guilds during the Restoration.

groundbreaking scholarship

It is rare to find a responsible presentation of facts concerning industrialization in Europe. Rather than supporting the more commonly held idea that mechanization was inevitable and necessary for progress, Fitzsimmons offers a different perspective. In the hands of the upper bourgeoisie, and a French government in the grip of ruthless competition with Britain, industrialization became a calculating method of redistributing wealth and power. Fitzsimmons does not use bully tactics to posit a hightly personal opinion. The scholarship is indepth and cross-referenced (even the footnotes are invaluable). I recommend this to anyone, really, but it crucial for students studying the 18th century in any capacity.

Solid exposition of Romans, but from Arminian view

In the Romans class I taught this semester, I assigned both this text and Sproul's. It turned out to be a good balance. Seemuth writes well and keeps a Holy Ghost perspective on Paul's timeless words. He forgets, though, that it's possible to be Reformed and Charismatic, and so doesn't explained the Wesleyan/Arminian view as well as he might.

For understanding God's way with man read this book and dwell on HIS path for us. Theology 101. You will have a better understanding of Romans than you thought you could.
