I have the " Fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing" by Alex Krulikowski , and also " Advanced Concepts of GD&T Based on ASME Y14.5M-1994 " by Mr.krulikowski. Both very good books the issue is that they have a lot exercises but no answers. So i decided to purchase the current book which includes answers.

Jeffrey A. Hoffer (hoffer@udayton.edu) is the Sherman -- Standard Register Professor of Data Management in the MIS, Operations Management, and Decision Sciences Department at the University of Dayton. He received a PhD from Cornell University in 1973 and was on the faculties of Case Western Reserve University and Indiana University before joining UD. He is a founder of the INFORMS College on Information Systems, the International Conference on Information Systems (and its conference chair in 1985), and the Association for Information Systems. He is author of many scholarly publications in the areas of database management, data warehousing, systems analysis, strategic systems planning, and human-computer interaction. He is co-author of several leading textbooks: "Modern Database Management," "Modern Systems Analysis and Design," "Essentials of Systems Analysis and Design," "Object-Oriented Systems Analysis and Design," and "Managing Information Technology: What Managers Need to Know," all published by Prentice-Hall. Or what managing IT used to be

I like the book because it tells so well where the Information technology is coming from. A strong plus is the excellent collection of case studies provided. This is the best part of the book. By themselves, they are worth the purchase of the book.
Part I of the book, is a review of the technology base and provides the MIS literacy required for the rest of the text. For a current practionner, it can be skipped over without missing much.
Part II presents the application of IT. It covers all the bases but would benefits by an update to include the most recents developments. Particularly, the e-commerce section is too general to be very useful in this new century.
Part III covers the acquisition process very well.
Finally Part IV would be a good introduction to another book about strategic planning for IT.
Overall a good textbook for a would be Manager in a fast moving field.

Only buy it if your class requires it - this isn't learning material.

As another reviewer noted, this book is horribly inaccurate in many places. Let's take for example, on page 88 the authors manage to completely confuse the OSI model with the TCP/IP protocol, and then goes on to say we don't use the OSI model in the networking field.

First of all, in the networking world there are two reference models we use to describe how networks communicate - the TCP model and the OSI model. We almost always use the OSI model and rarely if ever the TCP model in the real world - strike one. Second, they refer to it as the protocol when they are discussing reference models. Yes, TCP/IP is the name of the protocol suite that devices use to talk to one another (which actually encompasses a bunch of other protocols as well even though they aren't mentioned in the name) but don't muddle it with the TCP/IP model which is rarely used conceptually for tasks like developing and troubleshooting - the OSI model is the gold standard for that.

Earlier before that they claim that Bill Gates said we wouldn't need more than 640k memory - Bill Gates never actually said this - it's just an urban myth that keeps repeating over and over. You'd figure a professional publisher would catch that, but they didn't.

Also look at page 252, they friggin cite wikipedia of all things. Nobody anywhere ever cites wikipedia in a properly researched document, let alone a college textbook. Oh and they seem to often confuse the terms tablet computer with notebook computer.

If your college course requires you to buy this textbook you'll probably need it to either answer questions or read the case studies. But beyond that, I wouldn't use this book for any actual learning as if you aren't already well versed in the subject matter, it could send you down the wrong path in many places.

You've got to be kidding me.

This is literally the worst textbook I've ever used in my entire academic career. This book is jam-packed with jargon ("utilize"), acronyms (e.g.,"ERP," a term that the book does a poor job defining), and slashes. By slashes I mean, do you know how IT consultants love to use two synonymous words when one would suffice? For example: "I love/like to go jogging/running to the store/market."
My MIS professor was a moron, however, so it's understandable that he would choose this book. IF YOU ARE A PROFESSOR WHO IS NOT A MORON, DO NOT MAKE YOUR STUDENTS SUFFER THROUGH THIS BOOK. Thanks.

Essential reading for A Level and beyond, I would even recommend to GCSE History students as a highly accessible classic

Markets come before industry. Nobody builds a factory unless there is a secure demand.

The mercantile preceded the capitalist class. The period leading up to 1815 and including the struggles for empire and commercial opportunity, with all the strategic/military considerations, can be seen as preparing the way for the industrialisation that followed. The seeds of this machine age, both technological and organisational, were also sown in the eighteenth century. Technical improvements and inventions in the two principal sectors of textiles and iron and steel indeed laid the basis of the startling progress that pushed Victorian Britain ahead of its rivals. And Mantoux does not ignore the role of ideas (Adam Smith) or the "paper" revolution in banking in both the commercial and industrial revolutions.

Most teaching of the industrial revolution focuses almost exclusively on the technological and manufacturing side with little explanation or time given to the commercial expansion that accompanied it, understandably due to the age ranges and concepts involved (this where economics education comes in: what is a market?) and the ready availability of artefacts and historical heritage concerning the former.

This is a thoroughly well organised and clearly written book. It is therefore accessible to a wide range of students or those with an interest in social and economic history.

Pretty complete summary of the European start to the industrial revolution

Pretty interesting assessment of the English influence of the industrial revolution. I believe it met my expectations on this time period. It was nice to read about how England was pioneering some very important technologies. In summary, the book is worth the time to read it and you will have a better understanding.

Excelent reference book

This book on solvent extraction is a very good one as far as the actual content goes. However, upon reading it and having students to use it as their sole aid for learning solvent extraction, it may be a little difficult to penetrate. The different authors, each excellent chemists and masters of solvent extraction, have written different chapters and it is sometimes difficult to see the red line of the subject. If the book is used as a reference book for people already understanding the principles of solvent extraction and they only want to have some detailed question answered, this book is very good. For the case of teaching solvent extraction, my recommendation is to use this book and complement it with detailed lectures to give students the chain of events and explanations that are needed upon learning a new subject.

Fantastic book.

I got my Btech from IIT Madras where they used this text as the reference. It is a very good book and I highly recommend it. Books like Halmos's FDVS are harder to follow and are more abstract. This book is a fantastic introduction to the subject and I feel that it is a must for anyone who is seriously inclined towards pure math or communication engineering.

Sexy twist to the story!

I was addicted to this series and, about 5 pages into the series, I knew there was going to be a very interesting journey for Mia. I was not disappointed. March is everything you think you know, flipped on its head. This book is an incredible twist from the first two books. And just as much fun to read. If you thought this was just going to be one sexy romp, month after month, with just the sexy names changed, it is not. This book shows so much more about Mia and her family. I was blown away by how much this book touched my heart. I won't spoil the surprise, but this book has a very important message about love. And how far one will go, even sacrificing their own happiness, in the name of love. Mia's trip to Chicago in March to be the stand in girlfriend to Anthony Fasano will change Mia. The people she meets, the lovers she helps, even her past all play a role here. It is a wild ride from start to finish, and I am so glad I got to come along for the journey. This is a touching read, one minute you laugh, the next breaks your heart. But the strength in Mia is ever present, and now I know I will follow this character through every month of her struggle to pay off her father's debt. This is a series that you can't predict the ending any more than you can anticipate what Mia we do month to month. This author is anything but predictable, and I love it!

Another Incredible Month

I have a new addiction. I count down the days until the next Audrey Carlan’s Calendar Girl book releases as soon as I am finished with the current one. I am loving the journey that Mia is on. It’s seductive and powerful – captivating. Each month we are introduced to fabulous new characters and I have started to think of each month as being themed. I think that I might label March as ‘acceptance’.

Can I admit that the dirty girl in me was a little excited – just for a moment – that we might be getting some threesome action out of March?! It was okay that we didn’t because the actual story was even better the way Audrey wrote it.

Tony Fasano is one delicious man. Attractive, smart and kind. Loyal. From the outside looking in you would think that Mia’s entire month would be spent earning additional payments. Except there’s so much more to March. It’s a bit heart breaking and painful – I was amazed how Audrey was able to get so much story into such a short novella.

Both Tony and Mia spend March discovering what they truly want. Or more so, who they truly want. It’s an awesome month.

I can’t decide if I’m happy I discovered the Calendar Girl series in January or if I’m cursing myself because I would rather read all 12 months together at the end. Either way it’s an enticing journey that I’m happy to be on. I love everything about this series. I am already anticipating April and I’m curious to see what the author has in store for us then.

Anthony "Tony" Fasano a drop dead sexy Italian god...who happens to bat for the same team Mia does. Tony and Hector (Tonys partner) hire Mia to play as his fake fiancé to get his family (mainly his mother) off his back about finding a woman and settling down. Okay so he's gay and owns a chain of Italian family restaurants, what's the problem? Oh just like a lot of men Tony is a mamas boy, doesn't want to upset Mama, or put "shame" to the family name. Needless to say the only people who know he's gay are Hector, Mia, and the cook.
So much happens in this book. The Fasano family loves Mia and instantly welcomes her into the fold. She becomes close friends with not only Hector and Tony, but also Tonys sister Angie. When a family welcomes you with open arms like Fasano family did it would be hard lying to them. Mia felt awful for deceiving them, but she had to for Tonys sake.
While complying with this lie a lot of things happened. Hector and Mia became ridiculously close. His feelings were hurt because of this lie. The Fasano's loved him like he was another son and knew he was gay, so what's the problem? Angie was the first person to bring up that she knew Hector and Tony were partners and was totally okay with it.
"If there was ever a woman that could make a gay man straight it would be you."
Heck I would take that compliment.
"You know, Mia, it’s so tiring. Always hiding, worrying about who might find out, what it would mean to Mama and the family. How the public might take it. I couldn’t bear the thought of hurting my family and Hector in the process just for my own selfish desires."
I get it, it would be trying. But on another note Mia confides in Hector and Tony about Wes. Since she's been in the Windy City she's been in contact with him, thank god for phones and explicit words. Wes even decided to crash in on the trios St. Patrick's day drinking binge. Which almost lead to Tony pounding in Wes' face.
"Wes, sorry about that. But you know, drunk men, a beautiful woman, people can get handsy. I was just looking out for her."
Thankfully the boys love Mia so much they let Wes stay at there place so she could have an all night sexathon with him. When Wes left it tore her up, or maybe it was the letter he wrote her before he left.
Like the others this trip must come to an end. But before hand Mia stands next to Tony and Hector when they come out to the family. Then again when they come out to the world, or at least all of Chicago. Mama took it a little hard that she wouldn't get grandkids the traditional way, but she loves her son unconditionally. Like every mother the only thing she truly wants for Tony is for him to be happy and he is with Hector. After leaving them her 'see you later' note Mia was off to her next client in need. A pro baseball player in Boston.
